Greenland is a char fishing paradise. Although this awe-inspiring wilderness is fairly new on our angling list, it is fast becoming a firm favourite amongst our clients. Our reindeer hunters have been returning full of praise for what they have experienced there, and so too are the growing number of anglers. This is 'frontier fishing' at its most exciting!
In the south of Greenland, offers endless fishing opportunities on hundreds of rivers and lakes. Those lakes connected to the ocean by clear rivers provide the best fishing, but the fjords are also extremely productive in the early part of the season. Char start to gather in the fjords near the river mouths in early July and begin to move into the rivers by mid-month. By August the rivers and lakes are full of fish. August is also a more comfortable time to fish as the mosquitoes are beginning to die off.
Greenland char run between 1 lbs. and 5 lbs., but we've caught a few weighing close to 10 lbs. They are free takers of both streamers and nymphs. Bright flies with orange or magenta in the dressing are most effective.
Accommodation is on full-board basis in the village Narsaq. Be advised, our char fishing trips to Greenland are "rugged", requiring lots of walking and travelling in boats.

Musk-ox and Reindeer hunting in Greenland
| We welcome you and your hunting friends to visit one of the most exotic country for hunting in the world. Greenland is it and you are aiming the right direction. The past few years we have been able to offer clients the rare opportunity to hunt one of the most sought after Arctic big game trophies, the most wanted Musk-ox. There are two main hunting areas we have to offer our clients. One is on the West Coast of Greenland, in the Kangarlussuaq region. The other is on the southern part of Greenland, near Ivigtut. The area between the coast and the ice field plays host to 4,000 to 5,000 oxen. This area has excellent grazing and is one of the reasons for the impressive size of beast found there. A typical trophy will be around 350 - 480kg, some 15% heavier then those from other areas of Greenland. Our guides provide only the best trophies. There are two seasons for hunting musk-ox and each season has its own charms and challenges. The winter hunts take place from early March to early April and are under taken in the Greenland tradition using dog sleds for transportation and tents for accommodation, cabins are often used too. Later in the year the summer hunts run from mid-July to early August. During this period the hunting area is accessed by helicopter and boats, the accommodation is in really good hotels ore comfortable lodges. The weather is more suitable to europe at this time of year and there is 24-hour daylight. Whilst out in the field a radio link with base camp is maintained in case of emergency and there is ready access to boats or helicopters back to base should a situation warrant it. Musk-ox licences are extremely limited and clients should give as much notice as possible if wishing to book a hunt. Our previous clients have a 100% success rate and have all returned delighted with the experience. We offer weel equipped boats for the hunting with experianced guides and captain, drinks and packed lunch in the boat while hunting. Combination Hunt for Musk Ox and Reindeer can be arranged in the month of August. | Greenland Reindeer are known to be larger than those found in most of the other Arctic and sub-Arctic regions, both in the weight and size of their antlers. All transportation during the hunting is done by well equipped boats, experianced skippers, and always more then one boat. Every two hunters have a guide and on a typical day they can expect to be on foot for three to four hours walking over a mixture of ground that can be rocky, mossy, grassy, or heather covered. The guides will discuss the previous evening the best options for the day’s sport. If you take your reindeer trophie early, you are most welcome to go fishing for Arctic Charr. There is a maximum of six hunters at any one time and therefore plenty of room for each pair of guns. a client takes a trophy early in the week, an extra trophy may be bought, or sight seeing, exploring and fishing can be arranged at no extra charge. The hunting is not only for men but also women can go for these trip, infact at least 10%of last seasons trip where done by women, and we like that a lot. The hunting trips will be in August and September since that is the prime time for reindeer hunting in Greenland. Clients will be met at Narsarsuaq airport by our professional and well trained staff who runs the reindeer hunting concession in Greenland, and then be taken by boat to camp ore a Local Hotel. Hunting takes place every day with our very experienced guides from Greenland and Iceland. The Hotel is very nice, good food and great service, but we can also offer rustic accommodation. |
