From Geysir, it’s only a short drive to Iceland’s best known waterfall, Gullfoss, which cascades down 32 meters into the mighty glacial river Hvita. After seeing Gullfoss up close and listening to its roaring thunder, we drive a mountain track to Iceland’s second largest glacier, Langjokull. We will stay over night at Hveravellir in a mountain hut that provides comfortable accommodations in bunk beds with sleeping bags that we provide.

Day 2: After a good breakfast we head for Kerlingafjöll (woman´s mountains), is believed to have been a troll woman, according to ancient folk tales. The mountains take their name from a 25m high tuff stone pillar, standing to the south of the mountain Kerling in the western part. The story tells of a troll lady who didn´t make it into the mountain in time before sunrise and therefore turned to stone. Our journey continues through the rough track of the highlands to Þjórsárdalur valley where we will see the waterfalls Háifoss. From there, we drive through beautiful mountains and by the explosion crater Ljótipollur, before reaching Landmannalaugar. At Landmannalaugar we go for a short hike before we relax and bathe in the warm natural pond next to a lava field. The guides grill a good meal for the group. We will stay over night at Landmannalaugar in a mountain hut that provides comfortable accommodations in bunk beds with sleeping bags that we provide.
